Happy Hour Fri, 7/27
A group of eight attended Happy Hour at Elijah’s Fri, July 27 from 4:00-6:00PM on the Riverfront. Everyone enjoyed the drink specials ($5 wine glasses & $3 beers), good conversation, excellent oysters and other appetizers, nautical artifacts from when it was a maritime museum, and lovely views of the Cape Fear River and Memorial Bridge.
Taste of Wilmington Wed, 7/18
July’s Taste of Wilmington was held at the Symposium in Mayfaire Wed, July 18 from 6:00-8:00PM. Ten CFSOC adventurers tried this new restaurant conveniently located next to the Mayfaire 16 Regal/IMAX Theatres. Suffice it to say, no one got lost on their way to this location. The group was seated in a nice enclosed area of restaurant conducive to conversation. The food was excellent and no one was disappointed. The only odd thing about our visit was there were very few other diners that night, so we literally had the place to ourselves. But, we certainly didn’t mind!
Approximately 15 or so CFSOC members joined at the Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar in Leland Friday, June 29th, for Happy Hour to enjoy good conversation, cocktails and appetizers, including charbroiled oysters and chicken wings. A number of intrepid few even braved the sweltering heat outside to play a several rounds of corn hole on the green. A “Shuckin’ Good Time” was had by all!
Sixteen CFSOC members attended a Tennis Outing June 24th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Porters Neck Country Club. The event was a Round-Robin format, with attendees changing partners every 4 games. Cost of the event was $9.00 (including court fees and tennis balls) and participants enjoyed dinner afterwards at Porters Neck CC’s Grille after tennis.
We kicked off the summer season by holding a Happy Hour Friday, May 25th, where about 20 of us convened at the new rooftop bar, Cloud 9, at the Embassy Suites Hotel on the riverfront in downtown Wilmington. It was a beautiful evening and the views of the river were quite spectacular!
The CFSOC Golf Outing was held Sunday, May 13th, at Magnolia Greens with 4 tee times stating at noon. The cost including cart was $49 and participants were graciously invited to a member’s house for drinks and appetizers for a relaxing evening after golfing.
Previous Outings include:
Zip line trip
Bonfire at the Oak Island lighthouse
A trip to the Brunswick green swamp
Hikes at Lake Waccamaw
